Cylinder Head Repairs

VALVE REFACING

There comes a time in the life of every valve when it must either be replaced or reconditioned. Valve faces become worn and eroded as the seats wear, the stems wear where they contact the guides, and the tips of the stems can become worn or mushroomed from the constant friction with the rocker arms or cam followers

HOT PRESSURE TESTING

If your engine has overheated or had a cooling system failure it could crack or distort the cylinder head.

A cylinder head also sometimes cracks internally, so even if no cracks are visible on the cylinder head it is always worth pressure testing to confirm the cylinder head is OK to refit to the block.

We are able to pressure test cylinder heads on all automotive vehicles.

CHEMICAL CLEANING

It’s important to clean cylinder heads on a regular basis so you can check them more easily for cracks and holes that could affect their performance. If a head is covered in a layer of grease or oil, it will make it that much more difficult to see any cracks that might appear. This could then result in the engine overheating and costing you a lot of money to repair or replace.

Your cylinder heads need to be removed before cleaning. This process is complex, and should only be attempted by those with a good level of technical knowledge and experience.
